Wished it was like that yesterday at the Sun Run. Congrats to all those that ran. I was there as a volunteer at the finish line and watched about 47000+ ppl cross. That is a whole lotta people!! Pretty amazing to witness. It was also quite exciting to see the very first guy run across (<30min!!). I was glad to see a couple familiar faces too. I even saw my brother's friend from way back. Everyone looked so tired but happy!
Although I didn't get to pass out water for the sunrun and have the ppl that are passing by just grabbing it right out of my hand like I wanted to (something that I have always wanted to do), I was able to get the whole sun-run-volunteering-thing crossed off my list. And watching all the runners and walkers yesterday made me realize that I actually want to participate next year! So here we go...let's see Susan do a 10K run (or walk... ;D ). Now that would definitely be something for me...See you all next year!

If you want to experience people grabbing water out of your hands there are many events where you can do this. They are smaller events that are better, in my opinion. Great organization, runners are more serious and thankful for your help, they don't require you to be there at 7am, they don't require a minimum 6hr shift. Look up the Post to Post Canada Day 10k http://www.bcathletics.org/RRSeries/posttopost_details.htm as well as the Scotia Half http://www.canadarunningseries.com/svhm/ ---Bob
thanks bob! NM said that too. Apparently the smaller events are better organized. My little 'dream' was to do it specifically for the SunRun just because i liked the mass of people. However, i wouldn't mind looking into other events.
As for next year, i rather be in the run instead. i would have done it long ago had i known you could walk it!! I didn't know that until my partner told me on sunday. I'd always thought that you HAVE to run it because it's the sun-RUN!!?? and i would have never been able to run it all the way through...
Yeah, that'll be awesome if you prep yourself to participate next year. Don't worry about running all of it. I've trained people to race half marathons using the 10+1 method (10 minutes run, 1 minute walk) and it's well-accepted in the run community.
I forgot to mention the race that I'll be in a couple weeks. This is Vancouver's biggest long distance event of the year. It has 21km and 42.2km categories. Unfortunately the start times are quite early at 7am so think twice before volunteering hehe.

10+1?? more like the other way around. Actually scratch that..i am more like 1+0+10 (1 min run, total stop to catch my breath, and then 10 min walk):D
Seriously though i would be happy doing half half. i think that would be a more realistic goal for me right now...
